Hyderabad Rain: Hyderabad experienced a sudden wave of heavy rainfall on Sunday evening, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls across several areas of the city and its outskirts. The downpour lasted for a few hours, affecting normal traffic flow and leaving many roads submerged.

According to Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data till 8 PM, Shaikpet recorded the highest rainfall at 8 cm, followed by East Anandbagh with 5.5 cm, Bandlaguda with 5.4 cm, and Lalapet with 5.1 cm. Other affected areas included Kushaiguda, Abids, Himayathnagar, Tolichowki, Neredmet, and Ramnagar, where streets remained waterlogged for several hours.

Heavy rainfall was recorded at community halls in Musheerabad, with Boudha Nagar receiving 121 mm and Jawahar Nagar 112.8 mm from 8.30 AM to 9 PM, the TGDPS reported.

Hyderabad Weather Tomorrow

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad forecast light-to-moderate rain or thundershowers in the city on Monday evening or night. The Met Centre also warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and surrounding districts between 8.30 PM on Sunday and 8.30 AM on Monday. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are also likely in these areas during the same period.

GHMC Mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal shared on X that she was personally monitoring the situation from the command control centre at Banjara Hills Road No 12. She confirmed that GHMC and HYDRAA teams were actively diverting water and managing traffic, and additional motors were deployed to clear the water quickly.

Hyderabad Rain: Traffic Advisory

Hyderabad Police issued multiple alerts via social media, warning commuters of waterlogged areas near Medivision Eye Hospital (Asif Nagar PS) and Azamabad, advising the use of alternate routes. Slow-moving traffic was reported from NMDC to SD Hospital, and teams were on-site regulating vehicles and clearing water.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while travelling and avoid affected roads until water levels subside.
