A two-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after a pack of stray dogs attacked him in Telangana's Hyderabad on Sunday. The incident occurred in the Allapur area when the boy was playing near his home. CCTV footage from the Rana Pratap Nagar locality shows two dogs began chasing the toddler and later attacking him.
The widely circulated video on social media shows as the boy attempted to flee, one dog lunged, grabbing his arm and dragging him into the street. The distressing video further reveals two additional dogs joining the attack, biting and injuring the child.

Nearby residents responded to the child’s cries, with two women rushing out to scare the dogs away. The boy was then taken to Niloufer Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.

In a related incident, a man in Hyderabad was arrested in Jummerath Bazar for allegedly stabbing and killing a dog by throwing it from a two-storey building on Saturday. The accused reportedly acted out of anger after a stray dog bit his son. According to police, the conflict arose when Satyanarayana’s son was bitten while bursting firecrackers, which had agitated the animal.
Eyewitnesses recorded the incident, showing Satyanarayana wielding a stick and threatening a bystander who attempted to intervene. Following the dog’s death, he disposed of its body in the Musi River. Police later retrieved the carcass for a post-mortem examination.
Earlier, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) announced an increase in stray dog-catching vehicles and enhanced sterilization efforts to curb the risk to residents. The GHMC stated that the initiative aims to improve sterilization, vaccination and public awareness efforts in affected areas.
