Noida News: A 30-year-old man was arrested by Greater Noida police for allegedly assaulting a 28-year-old woman in a high-rise society under the jurisdiction of Dadri police station. The arrest came after a video of the incident went viral on social media on Saturday.

The suspect, identified as Surya Bhadana, resides in Omaxe Palm Green, Dadri. The 18-second video clip, which circulated widely, shows a man in a striped t-shirt and shorts attacking the woman by pulling her hair and slapping her multiple times. In the video, bystanders can be heard urging the man to continue the assault, while others attempted to intervene.

As locals intervened, the accused fled the scene, hurling insults as he left. His t-shirt appeared to be torn during the altercation. The video quickly gained millions of views on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

Sujeet Upadhayay, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Dadri police station, stated that the police took immediate action upon seeing the viral footage. They confirmed the incident with other residents of the society. It was revealed that the video was recorded about 10 days prior and that the woman is a resident of Delhi.

According to police, both individuals have known each other for eight years and graduated together from Delhi University. The police have invited the woman to provide a statement, but so far, she has not filed any formal complaint.

In a statement on X, the police confirmed the immediate action taken against the assailant "Taking cognisance of the viral video of a man assaulting his female friend in Omaxe Palm Green Society, the Dadri Police Station immediately took the accused into custody. Further legal action is being pursued."
