Hyderabad News: The Cyberabad Police have arrested two auto drivers in connection with the rape and murder of a 32-year-old woman whose body was discovered under the Kismatpur Bridge in Rajendranagar on September 17.

According to police officials, the two accused, residents of Tolichowki, allegedly kidnapped the woman when she was in an inebriated state, subjected her to sexual assault and later murdered her. The accused have been taken into custody and are being interrogated.

The Cyberabad police said, the victim, a resident of Yakutpura, had travelled to Hyderguda on September 15. She reportedly consumed liquor at a toddy shop and later collapsed on the roadside. At that time, the accused, who were passing by in an auto-rickshaw, forcibly picked her up.

The woman was then taken to an isolated spot near Kismatpur Bridge. Police said the two men consumed alcohol and then repeatedly raped her. When the woman resisted, they turned violent. The accused assaulted her brutally, including inserting sticks into her private parts, before killing her and leaving the body at the location.

After the body was discovered, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Cyberabad launched an investigation. Officers scanned CCTV footage from Nampally to Hyderguda, tracing the movements of the suspects. Based on technical evidence, the two auto drivers were identified and taken into custody.

Rajendranagar Station House Officer (SHO) K. Kastro confirmed the arrests, adding that both accused have confessed to the crime during questioning. They have been booked under charges of kidnapping, rape and murder.

In separate news, a couple in Kokapet, under Narsingi police limits, was attacked and robbed by a six-member gang on Sunday night. Police said the gang, arriving on motorcycles, confronted the pair near Neopolis and threatened them with sharp weapons. The assailants allegedly beat the victims before escaping with a gold chain, mobile phone, and cash. The shaken couple approached police, who registered a case and began investigations. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and officers suspect the gang could be linked to similar crimes targeting couples in secluded areas. Police have advised the public to avoid isolated spots at night.
