Hyderabad: 19-Year-Old Dies By Suicide After Fiance Refuses To Marry

A 19-year-old girl died by suicide at her home, on Saturday night in Hyderabad's Kulsumpura as her fiance reportedly refused to marry her after having a sexual relationship. The victim was a local of Kulsumpura who remained there with her family.

According to the information, she was engaged to Jahangir, a 23-year-old Bahadurpura native. The engagement took place last year, and the wedding was scheduled for this year in July. But, both families decided to call off their engagement as a result of several problems.

However, Jahangir kept meeting the girl and speaking to her on the phone. He was also accused of making multiple overnight visits to the victim's home where he reportedly kept making sexual relation after convincing the girl that he would marry her at any cost.

Jahangir later refused to marry the victim when she questioned him about their relation and accused her of having relationships with numerous other men. The victim fell into despair over it and took an overdose of deadly drugs on Saturday. She passed away late at night while receiving treatment.

A case, under Sections 376 (2) and 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was booked against Jahangir, following which he was arrested.
