Raipur-Hyderabad Expressway: The Raipur-Hyderabad Expressway, a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Chhattisgarh and Telangana, is on track for completion by August 2025. This 530-kilometre greenfield expressway is designed to cut the travel time between the two cities from 12-14 hours to just six, providing a faster and smoother commute for passengers and goods.
The expressway, part of the Raipur-Hyderabad Economic Corridor, will facilitate economic growth by improving trade routes and reducing transportation costs. According to a News 9 Live report, it will pass through critical regions, including Durg, Rajnandgaon, Gadchiroli, Gondpipri, Ramagundam and Karimnagar, linking key areas of central and southern India. These regions, known for trade and industry, are expected to benefit from the enhanced connectivity and reduced logistical challenges.
Spanning three states, the expressway will cover 104 kilometres in Chhattisgarh, 77 kilometres in Maharashtra and 338 kilometres in Telangana. Telangana will host the largest portion of the project, underscoring its strategic importance in the region's transportation network. The route will also traverse the Red Corridor, an area of both economic and security significance.
Construction of the access-controlled expressway is being undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in collaboration with state highway authorities. The expressway aims to establish a robust transportation framework, enabling faster movement of goods and people while boosting trade between the central and southern parts of India.
Although the expressway’s launch is scheduled for August 2025, authorities have indicated that timelines may adjust based on construction progress and logistical considerations. Once operational, it is expected to transform regional connectivity, reduce travel time significantly and strengthen economic ties between the two states and beyond.
