List Of Most Famous Temples In Ayodhya   

Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir 

The Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is considered to be the birthplace of Hindu deity Ram, who is revered as Lord Vishnu’s seventh manifestation. According to Hindu epic, Ramayana, Ram was grown along River Sarayu and therefore the site is of great importance to over a billion Hindus. Visiting this Ram Temple in Ayodhya is on the list of every Ram devotee who sees him as the Maryada Purushottam (the perfect man).

The land of Ram Janmabhoomi was disputed for a long time, until the Supreme Court of India gave it to a trust for the construction of Ram Temple on August 5, 2020. The Pran Pratishtha or consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple was done in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024, after which the doors of the temple were opened for the general public to offer prayers. 

Hanuman Garhi 

Hanuman Garhi, a 10th-century temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, is a must-visit site for devotees in Ayodhya. The temple, located in Sai Nagar, is believed to be the residence of Lord Hanuman, who guarded Ayodhya. It is customary to visit Hanuman Garhi before visiting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The temple is situated on a hilltop and has a 76-staircase pathway to the entrance. Inside the temple, there is a 6-inch-tall idol of Hanuman and an interior cave with statues of Hanuman and his mother, Anjani. The temple attracts thousands of devotees during Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, which celebrate the birth of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman respectively.

Shri Kale Ram Mandir

Shri Kale Ram Temple, located in Theri Bazaar of Ayodhya, is the only temple in India that showcases the idol of Lord Ram with his three brothers, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughna. The temple, which also has idols of Lord Hanuman and Goddess Sita, is considered the most important temple in Ayodhya and attracts devotees from all over the world. The temple also offers accommodation for visitors in its guesthouse.

Swaminarayan Temple

The famous Swaminarayan temple in Ayodhya, where the yogi Ghanshyam Maharaj performed holy rituals, attracts many saints and priests who seek spiritual knowledge. The temple, located at the Patrapur Road, has two umbrellas that mark the houses that were demolished to build inns. The temple also has beautifully carved idols of Radha Krishna Deva and Harikrishna Maharaj. The temple was once the residence of Shri Swaminarayan, who moved to Ayodhya from Chhapaiya.

Nageshwarnath Mandir

The Nageshwarnath Temple in Ayodhya is another historical temple in Ayodhya built by Kush, Lord Rama’s son, for his beloved Naga Kanya. The temple, which dates back to 750 AD, is dedicated to the local deity, Lord Nageshwarnath. It is a popular pilgrimage site for Shiva devotees, especially during Mahashivaratri and Trayodashi festivals. Reportedly, the temple was reconstructed in 1750 by Naval Rai, a minister of Safar Jung. The temple is located near the Theri Bazaar in Ayodhya.
