Bharat Ratna Award Winners List: The Bharat Ratna, also known as the Jewel of India, stands as the highest civilian honor bestowed by the Republic of India. Instituted on January 2, 1954, the award recognises individuals for their exceptional service or performance of the highest caliber, irrespective of race, occupation, position, or gender. Initially, the award was reserved for achievements in the realms of arts, literature, science, and public services. However, in December 2011, the Government of India broadened the criteria to encompass excellence in "any field of human endeavor." Recommendations for the Bharat Ratna are forwarded by the Prime Minister to the President for final approval. Here’s the list of Bharat Ratna Award Winners so far.
