List of All-World Chess Champions:  Indian Grandmaster D. Gukesh made history on December 12, 2024, by becoming the world’s youngest Chess Champion at just the age of 18 years. He defeated China’s Ding Liren in the final game of a thrilling match that kept everyone guessing until the end. This thrilling battle was drawn at 7—7, where Gukesh managed to win the final 14th game. Throughout the match, the final game seemed that it would end in a draw, but Gukesh scored one extra point. As a champion, Gukesh will take home a large share of the $2.5 million prize money.

D Gukesh Family Background And Education Qualification

Hailing from Chennai, Gukesh was born on 29 May 2006 and has been obsessed with chess since his childhood. His father, Rajinikanth, is an ENT surgeon, and his mother, Padma, is a microbiologist. When he was seven years old, he began playing chess. He attended the school called Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel When he was seven years old, he began playing chess. He attended the school called Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam, Chennai.

Before Gukesh’s remarkable achievement, Garry Kasparov (a Russian chess legend), the youngest champion, took the title at the age of 22 (in 1985), having beaten Anatoly Karpov.
