Youngest World Chess Champions: The 18-year-old Indian Gukesh Dommaraju has defeated Chinese Ding Liren and become the youngest world chess champion in the history of this game. Gukesh has beaten Russian giant Garry Kasparov, who won the crown in 1985 at the age of 22.

Gukesh is now the second grandmaster from India country to have the world title. Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand has been an undisputed world champion since 2007 for the next six years.

Hailing from Chennai, Gukesh became the youngest world chess champion at the age of 18, eclipsing Garry Kasparov's longstanding record. His early studies were from Velammal Vidyalaya School in Chennai. He started chess study in his childhood only.

Garry Kasparov (Russia, formerly USSR)

Garry Kasparov became the youngest World Chess Champion in 1985 by defeating Anatoly Karpov, setting a record that stands to this day, broken only by Gukesh. He studied chess from a very young age and soon made it the focus of his career.

Magnus Carlsen (Norway)

Magnus Carlsen holds a 5 title in the Chess Championship. He claimed the title in 2013 by beating Viswanathan Anand in Chennai, India, with an impressive 5-3 victory. After completing his secondary education, Carlsen left high school to focus entirely on his chess career.

Mikhail Tal (Latvia, formerly USSR)

Known as "Magician from Riga," Mikhail Tal rose to the position of the youngest World Chess Champion in 1960 at the mere age of 23 years and 32 years. He Graduated from the University of Latvia with a degree in literature.

Anatoly Karpov (Russia, formerly USSR)

At the age of 23 years 10 months and 8 days, Anatoly Karpov became the World Chess Champion in 1975 after Bobby Fischer refused to defend his title. He graduated from the University of Leningrad with a degree in economics, after which he began studies in English and Spanish and refined his chess games.

Vladimir Kramnik (Russia)

Beyond the young chess-playing world, Vladimir Kramnik emerged as the chess champion in 2000, at the age of 25 years, 8 months, and 4 days. Learning foreign languages at the University of Novgorod, he went to school while continuing his chess education.
