It is divided into several zones and divisions to facilitate organisational and management operations in the nation of billions. This article is all about the complete list of Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) zones. However, the zones are the organisational units of Indian Railways and not just of RRBs, along with the corresponding divisions. Every zone is led by a General Manager and is responsible for a specific geographical location, and is divided further into divisions for effective administration. These are some of the basic information about RRBs and the Indian Railway network in general, for those who aspire to work with the railways as well as anyone interested in the organisational framework that keeps India's complex railway network operating effortlessly.
Indian Railways is organised into a system of zones and divisions to enable effective management and smooth functioning of its extensive infrastructure. According to the Testbook, the Indian railway system is divided into 19 functioning zones, with the newly introduced South Coast Railway Zone. Each of these zones is headed by a General Manager and subdivided into divisions. These zones, like Central Railway (based in Mumbai, with divisions of Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Solapur, and Pune), Eastern Railway (based in Kolkata, divisions: Asansol, Howrah, Malda, Sealdah), and so on, span all across the country. Every division has a Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) to look after local operations, maintenance, and personnel. This hierarchical system makes Indian Railways one of the largest rail systems in the world and caters to millions of people every day, sustaining passenger and freight operations all over India.
