The most recent TasteAtlas rankings, which listed the "Top 100 Breads in the World" based on tens of thousands of ratings from real foodies, raised the world's love of bread to new heights in 2025. Two Indian flatbreads created an uproar by reaching the top of this year's list, demonstrating how local favourites can garner global attention. In addition to their popularity, a range of breads from different continents and traditions was evaluated based on their flavour, texture, and cultural significance.

What's exciting is that this list celebrates diversity in bread baking, sharing, and consumption around the world rather than focusing on one country dominating. You can see how texture and flavour elevated each loaf or flatbread from an accompaniment to the main attraction as you browse through favourites like soft, garlic-buttery naan or layered, flaky south-Indian parotta.
