India's DGMO is a three-star Lieutenant General, which is one of the highest ranks in the Indian Army. The DGMO directly reports to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS)and plays a pivotal role in military strategy, operational planning, and coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Major Responsibilities Of DGMO In India:
Developing and directing military strategies and operations, like war, counter-terrorism, and peacekeeping missions.
Keeping the LOC and other sensitive borders under surveillance and command, responding swiftly to escalations or ceasefire breaches.

Salary And Allowances Of DGMO In India:
Basic monthly pay varies from Rs 1,82,200 to Rs 2,24,100, as fixed by the 7th Pay Commission.
Total monthly remuneration, comprising allowances, varies from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
Allowances include government accommodation, official car with driver, security, medical facilities, and other perks of government employment.
Pakistan DGMO: Roles, Responsibilities, and Salary
The DGMO of Pakistan is usually a two-star Major General who serves under the Chief of Army Staff. The post is crucial in overseeing military operations, particularly along the India-Pakistan border.
Major Responsibilities Of DGMO In Pakistan:
1. Directing and overseeing military operations, including combat and counterinsurgency operations.
2. Ensuring operational readiness and deployment of troops, especially on the Line of Control and other sensitive posts.
3. Having direct communication with the Indian DGMO to tackle border tensions, avert tensions, and agree on ceasefires.
4. Guiding the Army Chief on operational matters and ensuring strategic directives are implemented.
Pay And Allowance Of DGMO In Pakistan:
The Pakistan Major General is paid a base salary of at least 3.5 lakh Pakistani Rupees (PKR) per month and can go up to 5 lakh PKR, which is only around Rs 1.06 lakh – 1.51 lakh, according to the Finance Division, Government of Pakistan.
Other additional perks are an official residence, vehicle, security, and various military allowances.
