List of Brave Military Operations of India: India's military strength is reflected in a sequence of heroic operations. Each of these brave military operations showcased strategic masterminds and the unbreakable will of India’s Armed Forces. 1. Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the death of civilians. In the brave operation Indian Armed Forces launched precise missile strikes against nine terrorist infrastructure targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. According to official briefings, the precision strikes were "focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” The operation targeted technical infrastructure, command centres, and arms depositories of organisations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which India held responsible for plotting the Pahalgam attack. Indian officials explained that only identifiable military targets were struck, and civilian and Pakistani military targets were spared. The operation was one of the biggest Indian military forays on Pakistani territory since 1971, declaring a new era in India's counter-terror policy.  

2. Operation Polo (1948)

The objective of Operation Polo was to integrate the princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union. It was a five-day operation that ended with Hyderabad's accession, the end of Nizam rule, and Indian territorial gain.

3. Operation Vijay (1961)

Operation Vijay was to liberate Goa, Daman, and Diu from Portuguese colonial domination in 1961. Indian forces captured Portuguese forces and integrated these areas into India. The operation marked the end of European colonial rule in the region.

4. Operation Trident (1971)

Operation Trident was a naval attack on Karachi during the Indo-Pakistani War. Indian Navy launched a surprise attack, inflicting heavy damage on Pakistan's naval fleet and oil reserve. It was the first application of anti-ship missiles in the area and a turning point in the war.

5.  Operation Python (1971)

Operation Python was a follow-up of Operation Trident and targeted Karachi harbour. The operation was to damage Pakistan's naval presence and supply chain, ensuring Indian maritime superiority during the war.

6. Operation Meghdoot (1984)

Operation Meghdoot was a preemptive move to avoid Pakistani control over Siachen Glacier. In the task force, Indian forces gained occupation of tactical passes and tops, establishing possession of the highest battlefield on earth and maintaining strategic advantages within the region. 

7. Operation Blue Star (1984)

Operation Blue Star was the removal of militants from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. It was a successful operational undertaking ending of giant controversy with resultant prolonged political ramifications.

8. Operation Cactus (1988)

The objective of Operation Cactus was to avert a coup in the Maldives and reinstate the legitimate government. Indian paratroopers successfully neutralised the coup attempt in no time and came to receive international praise for their timely intervention.

 9. Operation Pawan (1987–1990)

Operation Pawan was undertaken to enforce peace in Sri Lanka as per the Indo-Sri Lanka Accord. The Indian Peace Keeping Force faced intense resistance from Tamil militants, which exemplified the complexities of intervening in civil wars.

 10. Operation Vijay (Kargil, 1999)

The objective of the operation was to push out Pakistani intruders from the Kargil region of Jammu & Kashmir. Indian Armed Forces, in exemplary gallantry under harsh conditions, regained all the occupied positions. The operation is recalled with gallantry by soldiers like Captain Vikram Batra and others, and demonstrated India's commitment to defending sovereignty.

11.  Operation Black Tornado (2008)

Operation Black Tornado was undertaken in 2008 to neutralise terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. National Security Guard commandos rescued hostages and eliminated terrorists after an all-day siege, highlighting India's counter-terror capabilities.
