Their influence is still alive in the hearts of billions and generations ahead, all thanks to their books, teachings and legacy, which goes on. These honorary teachers have left an undeniable mark on Indian history and are celebrated across the country, especially on special occasions like Teachers' Day. List Of Great Teachers Of India:

1. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Teacher’s Day is celebrated in India on the honorary occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The man of intellect was a philosopher scholar, India's first Vice President and second President, but always remained a teacher at heart and is still remembered every year on Teacher’s Day. As per the  Presidentofindia.nic.in, Dr Sarvepalli taught in some of the finest universities like the University of Mysore and the University of Calcutta.

2. Savitribai Phule

As per the Testbook data, Savitiribai Phule was the first woman teacher in India in 1848. She fought for women's education when it was unknown. She overcame social prejudice and struggled relentlessly to empower vulnerable sections of society, fought for gender equality in education and finally, with her husband, she opened India's first school for girls. 

3. Chanakya

Who has not heard about Chanakya? Chanakaya's teachings are still famous as Chanakyanitis. He was an expert in Strategic planning, a philosopher and educator at Takshashila University during the 4th century BCE. According to Britannica, he wrote a classic theory on polity, known as Artha-shastra. He was also known as Kautilya in some parts of India.

4. Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda was a religious leader and educator. He brought Indian philosophies like Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, focusing on self-awareness, experiential learning, and spiritual balance.

5. Gautam Buddha

Widely known, Gautam Buddha taught his awakening through the Eightfold Path. He shared his teachings about wisdom, mindfulness, compassion and self-realisation. His wisdom is still followed to help people move towards the path of liberation from suffering and inner peace.
