For example, the almighty Vishnu has the Sudarshana Chakra (discus), which showcases the destruction of evil. Whereas, his wife Lakshmi is a goddess of wealth and is often depicted with a lotus that denotes purity and spiritual awakening. These weapons of Hindu deities also act as a firm reminder of their strength and their sacred duty as protectors of the world. For example, goddess Durga is known for her ten arms and each of her arms holds many weapons like Sakti (spear) and Vajra (thunderbolt) to fight evil. Another goddess is Kali who wields a sword that signifies the cutting away of ego and arrogance.

Other righteous gods include the goddess of knowledge and art, Saraswati who holds a Veena (musical instrument) as her weapon, which symbolises art and learning. On the other hand, Hanuman the god of devotion and strength has a Gada (mace).
