Most Polluted Cities in India: A country of billions continues to struggle with hazardous air pollution. Thirteen of the world's 20 most polluted cities are in India and Byrnihat tops the list. Delhi is, once again, the most polluted capital city in the world, as per the World Air Quality Report produced by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir. Overall, India is placed as the fifth most polluted country in the world, though the country has seen a little decline in its past ranking of a PM2.5 yearly concentration averaging at 50.6 micrograms per cubic meter. India continues to house the majority of the world's most polluted cities. Let’s take a brief look at the list and challenges the major cities are facing.

Top 10 Most Polluted Cities In India:
1. Byrnihat, Assam:
Assam’s Byrnihat leads the list of the world's top polluted cities majorly due to emissions from the local industries, such as distilleries and iron and steel units.
2. Delhi:
Delhi is the most polluted capital city in the world. Air quality in the city has further worsened, with PM2.5 levels increasing from 102.4 μg/m³ to 108.3 μg/m³.
3. Mullanpur, Punjab
Mullanpur in Punjab is known for its industrial activity, which is the main reason for this concerning air pollution in the area.
4. Faridabad, Haryana:
Being a part of the Delhi-NCR area, Faridabad is impacted seriously by industrial and vehicular pollution.
5. Loni, Uttar Pradesh
Being nearby to Delhi, Loni is hazardously affected by pollution due to industrial activities as well as its proximity to the polluted capital city.
6. Gurugram, Haryana:
The another part of the Delhi-NCR area, Gurugram's pollution is accelerated due to urbanisation and growing industrial developments in the place.
7. Ganganagar, Rajasthan:
Ganganagar in Rajasthan is widely famous for agricultural activities and has been suffering from pollution emanating from industries forever now.

Part of Delhi-NCR, Greater Noida has pollution problems owing to the high urbanization and industrial activities.
