Ongoing Conflicts Across The World: The world continues to witness several serious conflicts in the year 2025 between countries that are affecting global peace, economy and security. The conflict between Israel and Iran is among the most serious and frightening. When both countries engaged in direct military strikes for the first time in 2024, the long-standing tension reached a new level. Israel has reacted with forceful military action to safeguard its security in response to Iran's support of extremist organisations like Hamas and Hezbollah. Concerns about trade, oil supply and the possibility of a larger war involving other nations have been raised by this conflict, which has not only impacted the Middle East.
Before Iran-Israel, India and Pakistan were involved in War-like situations between 7 May to 11 May after deadly terrorist attacks on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir. With intense fighting in eastern Ukraine, the Russia-Ukraine war has been going on since 2022, aside from the Iran-Israel conflict. Millions of people have been displaced, and thousands have died as a result of the war. The relationship between China and Taiwan is still tense as China rejects Taiwan's independence and keeps threatening Taiwan militarily. Similarly, Myanmar and Sudan are struggling with internal conflicts.
These conflicts have made 2025 a year of serious global challenges. Peace efforts are ongoing, but the situation remains uncertain in many parts of the world.
1. Iran-Israel Conflict
The current conflict between Israel and Iran intensified as both sides launched direct and indirect attacks. Israel defends its borders by using airstrikes in response to Iran's support for extremist organisations like Hamas and Hezbollah. Concerns about a potential larger conflict in the Middle East have been raised by the attention this tension has received from international powers.

2. Russia-Ukraine Conflict
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine started in 2022 and is still ongoing as of 2025. To maintain control over some eastern regions and keep Ukraine from joining NATO, Russia invaded Ukraine. With Western nations' assistance, Ukraine is still steadfastly defending its territory. The war has resulted in a refugee crisis, extensive destruction, and numerous fatalities.
3. India-Pakistan conflict
The India-Pakistan conflict is a long-standing issue mainly over the Kashmir region. Both countries have fought wars and had tense relations since their independence in 1947. The conflict has caused political, military, and emotional stress over the years. Efforts for peace have been made, but trust issues and border tensions remain between the two neighbouring nations.
After the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, India closed its airspace and borders, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, and began Operation Sindoor on May 7, which involved firing missiles at militant targets in Pakistan. In response, Pakistan shelled, causing diplomatic and civilian disruptions, but on May 10, a ceasefire was agreed upon amid international calls for peace.
4. China-Taiwan Conflict
Taiwan views itself as an independent nation, but China claims it as its own. War fears have escalated in 2025 as a result of China's military pressure and regular drills close to Taiwan. Since the United States and its allies back Taiwan's right to self-government, this dispute is a significant international concern in Asia.
5. Myanmar Conflict
Myanmar has been embroiled in a civil war since the military takeover in 2021. Armed resistance and nationwide protests followed the army's overthrow of the democratic government. The nation is unstable and experiencing humanitarian problems as a result of ongoing conflicts between ethnic groups and pro-democracy forces and the military.

6. Sudan Civil War
Sudan is facing a brutal internal war between the army and a paramilitary group called the RSF. The conflict started in 2023 and has led to widespread violence, famine, and displacement. Civilians are suffering the most, with little access to food, water, and healthcare.
7. Houthis–US Conflict
As a show of solidarity with Palestinians, the Iranian-backed Houthis, a rebel group in Yemen, have attacked American ships and allies in the Red Sea. The United States has responded by conducting airstrikes against Houthi targets. Global trade has been hampered by this conflict, which has also increased regional instability.
