Top 10 Largest Gold Producing States In India: India is one of the countries with rich gold reserves, and several states contribute to its gold production. In this list, we explore the top 10 gold-producing states in India and how much gold they contribute to the country each year.

1. Karnataka

With about 80% of India's total gold production, Karnataka is the state that produces the most. An estimated 103.84 million tonnes of gold are in the state's reserves. It produces approx 1,553 kg of gold annually. Among the main sources are the Hutti Gold Mines in the Raichur district, though the ancient Kolar Gold Fields have also made a substantial historical contribution.

2. Andhra Pradesh

India's second-largest producer of gold is Andhra Pradesh. The state produces about 726 kg of gold annually. The districts of Anantapur, Chittoor and Kurnool contain significant deposits.

3. Jharkhand

About 11% of India's gold production comes from Jharkhand. With roughly 40% of the nation's mineral capacity, the state is mineral-rich. Kunderkocha, Lava Gold, Parasi, Pahadia, and Bhitar Dari are notable mining locations. The Subarnarekha River's sands also contain alluvial gold.

4. Rajasthan

About 25% of India's gold ore reserves are found in Rajasthan, which has substantial deposits in the Bhukia-Jagpura gold belt. Although the state has large reserves, there is still little active gold production there.

5. Kerala

In Kerala, especially in the districts of Malappuram and Palakkad, alluvial deposits in river terraces along the Punna Puzha and Chabiyar Puzha rivers are the main source of gold. There is a lack of documentation regarding the precise yearly production figures. 

6. Bihar

About 44% of India's estimated 222.8 million tonnes of gold ore reserves are in Bihar, mostly in the Jamui district. However, obstacles like the region's Naxalite activity mean that actual gold production is quite low.

7. West Bengal

West Bengal holds around 3% of India's gold reserves, with significant deposits located in the Sonapata region. The state has an estimated gold resource of 12 million tonnes.

8. Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu has potential gold reserves, but active production is limited. The state's contribution to India's overall gold output is relatively minor. Detailed production data is scarce.

9. Chhattisgarh

There are roughly 4.8 million tonnes of gold reserves in Chhattisgarh, mostly in the Balod area. The state still produces a small amount of gold despite these reserves. 

10. Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh has about 7.9 million tonnes of gold reserves, with notable deposits in the Harda region. However, the state's contribution to national gold production is relatively small.
