Every state in India has its summer holiday schedule, which varies depending on local climate conditions and educational policies in the state.

Here’s a list of state-wise summer vacation calendars, as India is a diverse country with diverse climate types. In Delhi, summer vacations start in May-June. On the other hand, in mountain areas like Himachal Pradesh, summers start late, and so do vacations. Therefore, their holidays begin in July and end in August. Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, the summer vacations have been finalised after the annual examination period. The summer holidays in Tamil Nadu will start on April 22 for classes 1-5, while for classes 6 to 9, the summer vacation will begin on April 27. These holidays will give students time to recharge before the beginning of the next term.

Delhi

Delhi schools provide summer vacations for 45-51 days. Last year, Delhi schools' summer vacation began on May 11 and ended on June 30, 2024. This year, the expected dates of vacation will be from May 10 to June 30, 2024. This long break will give students a good amount of time to rest and recharge. They can also learn something new in this period.

Karnataka

Each year, Karnataka's summer break starts from the second week of May and goes on till either June 30th. This year, the expectations are also the same. The summer vacations by Karnatak schools are perfect for rest, and students come back to school fully rested and enjoying holidays.

Andhra Pradesh

Summer vacation in Andhra Pradesh usually starts in late April and goes on until mid-June. During these holidays, school-goers and teachers get a much-needed break before the new academic year starts.

Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh's summer vacation begins on June 17 and ends on July 19, with school resumption on July 22. This late summer break enables students to make the most out of the cooler periods.

Uttar Pradesh

In 2024, UP schools' summer holidays lasted from May 20 to June 15. This vacation period protects students from rising temperatures and gives them time to rest and relax. If this year's dates are the same, then, holiday period will also include holidays for Bakrid and Rath Yatra.

Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh is one of the hottest states in India. Last year, the summer vacation in Chhattisgarh lasted till June 25 due to a severe heat wave. However, as per the tentative summer holiday dates, the vacation will be from April 20 to June 25.

Assam

The tentative dates for Summer breaks in Assam for classes Nursery to VIII begin on June 16 and end on July 29, and the schools resume on July 30. For classes IX to XII, the break starts on June 30 and ends on July 28.

Goa

Goa Schools offer a month-long summer holidays, which start in May and end around June 4, to give students a brief but relaxing time before the new academic year.

Gujarat

Gujarat's summer break lasts for about 35 days, beginning in May. This holiday period is apt for learners to be back with curiosity and enthusiasm to learn new things.

Haryana

Haryana schools will be on summer vacation from May 28 to June 30 (Tentative). Mostly, here, schools reopen on July 1.

Himachal Pradesh

The state’s summer vacation is from July 1 to August 27. But certain areas have different timetables.

Jharkhand

Jharkhand schools usually have summer holidays between May 5 and June 20, although specific dates are still to be confirmed.

Kerala

Schools in Kerala usually resume on June 3 after the summer vacation, when a new academic year starts.

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh schools will have summer breaks between May 1 and June 15, with teachers' breaks lasting until May 31.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra schools shut early on April 18 and will reopen on June 15, as per reports. This break will surely bring relief from the heat for school-goers.

Telangana

Telangana school summer vacation 2025 dates are out by the Telangana Education Department, and schools will be closed from April 24 to June 11. While college-goers will enjoy their summer vacations from March 31 to June 1, 2025.
