Top 10 Powerful Symbols Of India's Democracy: Each year, India celebrates Republic Day on 26th January, which marks the day of the adoption of the constitution and the nation's founding as a democratic republic in 1950. This is a day of pride and celebration for all Indians, hence from the nooks and corners of the country, people join together to celebrate the value of democracy, harmony and variety.
From the hoisting of the national flag to the striking military parade, this day represents several symbols of India's democracy, each of which stands for the nation's rich history, sovereignty and the values of equality, justice, and freedom. Here is the list of the top 10 symbols of Indian democracy that are represented on Republic Day.
1. Indian National Flag
One of the most significant symbols of India's democracy is the national flag. With a 24-spoke wheel known as the Ashoka Chakra in the center, it has three colours: saffron at the top, white in the middle and green at the bottom. The flag, which stands for strength, peace and harmony is proudly hoisted on Republic Day.
2. State Emblem
India's State Emblem symbolises the nation's sovereignty and was inspired by the Lion Capital of Ashoka. It has four lions, which stand for strength, bravery and self-assurance. The Ashoka Chakra and the national motto, "Satyamev Jayate," which translates to "Truth Alone Triumphs," are also featured on the chakra.

4. National Anthem
"Jana Gana Mana," the national anthem of India is sung on Republic Day to honour the nation and its people. Composed by Rabindranath Tagore, the national anthem represents the spirit of unity, pride and patriotism, bringing all citizens together to celebrate India’s democracy.
5. National Song
The national song, "Vande Mataram," which tribute to the feeling of solidarity and dedication to the motherland was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. It is sung on Republic Day as a sign of pride in the country.
6. National Motto And Slogan
"Satyamev Jayate," Which means “Truth Alone Triumphs,” is the national motto of India. This potent catchphrase is taken from the Mundaka Upanishad and embodies India's dedication to justice, truth and integrity in its democratic governance and operations. There are some slogans like Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata Ki jai and more are being cheered on this day.

These visitors' presence serves to further solidify India's position as a major global actor. The chief guest for Republic Day 2025 is the president of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
