What Is GST?
GST stands for Goods and Services Tax. It is a consolidated, unified tax imposed on the sale of goods and services across India. It has replaced several indirect taxes like VAT and service tax, which made the tax regime simpler and easier to understand for citizens. GST is charged at every stage of production and distribution, but only on the value added at each stage. It is divided into three parts, which are CGST (central), SGST (state) and IGST (interstate sales). GST avoids double taxation to build a uniform national market, and makes payment as well as understanding of taxes simpler for small businesses and consumers around the nation.
What Is GST Revenue?
The Goods and Services Tax revenue is the sum of money collected by the government from the Goods and Services Tax. It is an indirect tax on the sale of goods and services throughout India. It is a multi-stage tax, imposed on every production and distribution stage, but only adds value at a particular stage. The GST earnings are shared among the central government and state governments, depending on whether the sale is intra-state or inter-state. It is a principal source of governmental income, supporting public services and infrastructure and ensuring a uniform, efficient taxation procedure in the entire nation.
