List Of Designations In India Dealing With Foreign Matters: As tensions rise once again between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, the spotlight is on India’s top foreign affairs officials. Under the direction of Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is essential to handling India's diplomatic response, interacting with world powers, and defending the nation's standing on international fora. Meanwhile, Vikram Misri, the foreign secretary, is being criticised by the public and harassed on social media for remarks he made recently about Pakistan that many see as having a "soft diplomatic tone."

Critics argue that in such a delicate moment, more forceful messaging is required. The top most authority of India's foreign policy is the Minister of External Affairs. At present, this significant position is held by Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The highest-ranking official in the Ministry of External Affairs is the Foreign Secretary. In 2025, Shri Vikram Misri is overseeing India's diplomatic plans and overseas missions. 3. Ministers of State for External Affairs

4. Ambassadors and High Commissioners

They are crucial in educating other nations about India's worries about cross-border terrorism and winning over other nations to their cause.

5. Permanent Representative to the United Nations

This official speaks on behalf of India at the UN. Talking about international topics like human rights, peace, and terrorism is part of the job. This representative is bringing up the subject of cross-border terrorism and defending India's standing on international forums amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.  Parvathaneni Harish has currently serving as the permanent representative to the United Nations since 1 September 2024.

6. Joint Secretaries & Additional Secretaries (MEA)
