Top 10 Healthiest States In India By 2025: Health is one of the most important parts of a good life.  A healthy population means fewer illnesses, better work performance and national growth. As of 2025, several Indian states have achieved significant achievements in enhancing public health conditions, healthcare services and awareness. These states have prioritised topics such as modern hospitals, nutrition, immunisation, cleanliness and maternal and child health.

The NITI Aayog’s Health Index, also called the FHI (Fiscal Health Index), measures how well each state is performing in healthcare. States like Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Goa are leading the list due to their efforts in providing better medical services, health awareness, and disease control programs. From building rural health centres to offering free medicines and running health schemes, these states are setting strong examples. Even states with earlier health challenges, like Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, are now showing big improvements. According to a 2025 Health Index score report, Odisha is the healthiest state in India. The state has significantly improved access to public health services, decreased infant mortality, and improved maternal and child healthcare. Health outcomes in both urban and rural areas have improved thanks to government health programs and awareness campaigns.

2. Chhattisgarh 

Chattisgarh is the second healthiest state in India as the healthcare system here has greatly improved as a result of government programs like free medical examinations and medication, as well as a strong emphasis on rural health services. 3. Goa

7. Uttar Pradesh

8. Telangana
