Largest Telecom Networks In India 2025: India boasts one of the biggest telecom markets globally, with millions of users depending on various network providers for fast internet, voice calls, and data services. According to their user bases, Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), BSNL and MTNL are the leading telecom providers in India in 2025. With differing speeds, coverage and costs, these businesses provide 4G and 5G services.

Jio dominates the market with the most users, followed by Vodafone Idea and Airtel. With their quick speeds and reasonably priced plans, Jio and Airtel are the industry leaders, but BSNL and MTNL continue to provide service to consumers, primarily in the government and rural areas. Data speed, call quality, cost, and regional availability are just a few of the benefits and drawbacks of each network.

 MTNL   1 million  0.46  3G, 2G

Jio (Launched in 2016) – 465.14 Million Users

With 465.14 million users, Jio is the biggest telecom network in India. Jio, which is famous for its reasonably priced plans and fast 4G and 5G services, provides fast data speeds with an average of about 445.60 Mbps in some locations. Jio's low-cost unlimited plans, free voice calls, and extensive coverage are its greatest advantages. One drawback, though, is that traffic in crowded places can cause the internet speed to decrease.

Airtel (Launched in 1995) – 385.31 Million Users

Airtel is the second-biggest telecom network in India with 385.31 million customers. At an average speed of 382.07 Mbps, it offers advanced 4G connectivity and rapidly growing 5G services. Airtel is renowned for its strong rural coverage, improved customer service, and reliable network. Its plans, however, can be a little more costly than Jio's, which is a disadvantage for customers on a tight budget.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) (Launched in 2018) – 207.26 Million Users

With an average speed of 176.51 Mbps, Vodafone Idea (Vi) offers 4G services to 207.26 million users. Its main advantages are weekend data rollovers and reasonably priced plans. It is less competitive than Jio and Airtel, though, because of its limited 5G expansion and lack of network coverage in rural areas.

BSNL (Launched in 2000) – 91.95 Million Users

BSNL is a government-owned telecom company with a total of 91.95 million users, and 55 million active users. It offers affordable plans and is dependable in isolated locations where private networks have trouble. However, compared to private telecom providers, BSNL's internet speed is substantially slower, averaging about 55.70 Mbps. The absence of adequate 4G and 5G services is another drawback that restricts its expansion.

MTNL (Launched in 1986) – 1 Million Users

There are currently just one million customers of MTNL, another government telecom company. It primarily serves customers in Delhi and Mumbai, but its average internet speed is only 0.46 Mbps. Although it provides affordable plans, it is less competitive in the Indian telecom market due to its slow data speed, subpar customer support, and antiquated technology.
