1. Uttar Pradesh – 2.5 Million Metric Tons

India's top mango-producing state is Uttar Pradesh. The state is well-known for its Dasheri mangoes, which are prized for their smooth texture and sweet flavour. The Malihabad area, which is close to Lucknow, is where these mangoes are primarily grown. Chausa and Langra are two other well-liked varieties from the state. UP is the ideal location for mango cultivation due to its warm climate and rich soil.

2. Andhra Pradesh – 1.2 Million Metric Tons

Second in terms of mango production, Andhra Pradesh is renowned for cultivating a diverse array of mango types. Banganapalli, which is big, yellow, and juicy, is the most well-known. Neelum and Suvarnarekha are other well-liked types. Because of their superior quality, mangoes from this state are also exported to numerous nations.

3. Bihar – 800,000 Metric Tons

Mango varieties like Langra, Zardalu, and Malda are produced in Bihar, which is renowned for its fertile mango-growing regions. Bhagalpur's Zardalu mango is particularly well-known for its distinct flavour and scent. Mangoes from Bihar are sold in Indian markets in addition to being consumed locally.

4. Karnataka – 750,000 Metric Tons

One of South India's leading mango-producing states is Karnataka. The Alphonso (Hapus) and Raspuri mangoes are its most well-known products. Alphonso mangoes are rich, sweet, and referred to as the "King of Mangoes," while Raspuri mangoes are juicy and ideal for pulp and juices. Karnataka is known for its delicious mangoes, which are exported in large quantities.

5. Maharashtra – 600,000 Metric Tons

The Alphonso mangoes of Maharashtra, particularly those grown in the Ratnagiri region, are famous throughout the world. Mangoes from Alphonso are renowned for their smooth texture, golden hue, and sweetness. Kesar and Pairi are among the other types cultivated here. The coastal climate of Maharashtra is perfect for growing and exporting premium mangoes.

6. Tamil Nadu – 300,000 Metric Tons

Mangoes such as Imam Pasand, Neelum, and Banganapalli are produced in Tamil Nadu. Imam Pasand is renowned for its superb flavour and tender pulp, and it is primarily grown in Salem and Dharmapuri. Mango cultivation is encouraged by the state when there are adequate irrigation resources and a suitable climate.

7. Gujarat – 150,000 Metric Tons

The Kesar mango, which is primarily grown in the Gir region of Junagadh, is a popular product of Gujarat. These mangoes have a rich, sweet flavour and are vivid orange in colour. Rajapuri and Badami mangoes, which are used to make mango pulp and eaten fresh, are also produced in Gujarat.

8. West Bengal – 140,000 Metric Tons

West Bengal is well-known for its Langra and Himsagar mangoes. One of the greatest mangoes for dessert is Himsagar, which is renowned for being incredibly juicy and fragrant. Mango lovers from all over the world come to the state during the mango season, which typically starts in May and lasts until July.

9. Odisha – 75,000 Metric Tons

Odisha grows mango varieties such as Dussehri, Amrapali, and Langra. These mangoes are mostly grown in districts like Mayurbhanj and Koraput. The state also supports tribal farmers in mango cultivation, helping increase income and local mango availability.

10. Kerala – 50,000 Metric Tons

Mangoes like Chandrakkaran, Priyoor, and Muvandan are produced in Kerala. These are mostly used for making pickles and juice due to their tangy-sweet taste. Particularly in areas like Palakkad and Malappuram, mango trees are frequently found in backyards and small farms. The state enjoys a long mango season due to its tropical climate.
