Sacramento helicopter crash video: A medic chopper crashed on eastbound Highway 50 in Sacramento on Tuesday, injuring several individuals, local authorities confirmed. The crash happened moments after the helicopter had departed from UC Davis Medical Center, a top children's hospital in the region.

As per videos taken by eyewitnesses that are circulating on social media, the helicopter seemed to spin out of control before plummeting onto the highway. Vehicles and cars were nearby when the chopper crashed, adding to the dramatic nature of the incident. One viral photo depicted the remains of the helicopter amidst stopped traffic, spreading panic among traffic commuters.

Traffic Disrupted, Emergency Response Swift

The California Highway Patrol reported the accident halted traffic on both sides of Highway 50. Emergency responders, such as firefighters and paramedics, swarmed the site within minutes. Officials said that several individuals were trapped and injured, but the number and extent of casualties are still unknown at this stage.

Footage shot from the scene, taken by local media outlets, depicts rescue workers attempting to remove the injured and mark the crash site. Downtown Sacramento area residents and commuters were delayed significantly as authorities cordoned off the highway.

Chopper Identified As REACH Air Medical Helicopter

Though authorities have not officially identified the model of the helicopter, photos posted on the internet indicate that a REACH Air Medical Helicopter was the aircraft involved. The chopper had reportedly just taken off from UC Davis Medical Center when the accident happened near Howe Avenue, near the Highway 99 off-ramp.

The Sacramento Fire Department and California Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid the area and follow traffic updates to minimise further disruption.

Many eyewitnesses described the crash as sudden and terrifying. "I witnessed the helicopter spinning and then crash onto the highway. It was just a matter of meters away from traveling cars," one commuter explained to local media. Social media users have widely shared videos and images of the crash, highlighting the close call for vehicles near the site.
