US President Donald Trump made headlines at the US Navy's 250th anniversary commemoration at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, both through his words and a dance that immediately went viral. Ending his speech, Trump launched into the famous "YMCA" dance, eliciting a deafening cheer from the 10,000-person crowd of sailors. Social media erupted in hours, with videos of the performance going viral across the internet.

Trump was accompanied to the base by senior officials, such as Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Navy Secretary John Phelan, Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, and US Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a past Navy rear admiral and White House physician during Trump's first term.

The “YMCA” dance drew both admiration and playful mockery online. One social media user hailed it as “the dance that saved America,” while another noted, “Sailors look like they’re saluting the beat. Navy’s new motto: ‘Make America Groove Again!’” Others commented on the sheer energy of the performance: “Classic Trump energy! Busting out the YMCA dance with the sailors, pure gold. Nothing boosts morale like a president who can groove.” First Lady Melania Trump also joined in the festivities, adding to the memorable moment.

The Navy ceremony brought old-fashioned military pageantry together with exciting displays. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited the USS George H.W. Pointing out the effect on critical projects in Democratic-controlled locales like New York and Chicago, Trump assured that military personnel would be kept on full pay even as the standoff continued. Senate Democrats, on their part, quoted healthcare subsidies, Medicaid reductions, and federal budget priorities as reasons for not passing funds.
