Former President Donald Trump’s vision for education centres on a bold and controversial goal: eliminating what he perceives as ‘wokeness’ and ‘left-wing indoctrination’ from America's schools. Framing education as a battleground for cultural values, Trump aims to reshape curricula, policies, and teaching approaches to align with his belief in promoting "patriotic education" and traditional American values.

The president-elect’s education agenda is a direct response to cultural debates reshaping America's schools. Aiming to ban transgender athletes from participating in girls' sports, forbid classroom discussions on gender identity and structural racism, and abolish diversity and inclusion offices, this vision reflects a broader push to align educational policies with conservative ideals.

Trump’s education plan vows to cut funding for schools that oppose his policies. He pledges to defund institutions promoting critical race theory, transgender issues, or other content he deems inappropriate. Additionally, he has promised to withhold funding from schools enforcing vaccine or mask mandates.

Trump's education platform advocates significant funding incentives for states and schools that eliminate teacher tenure, implement universal school choice, and let parents elect principals. His most ambitious proposal is to abolish the US Education Department, citing its alleged infiltration by ‘radicals’.

Trump’s Proposed Changes To College Curricula

Trump has also proposed new accreditation standards for colleges, the removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion administrators, and the promotion of "American and Western civilisation" in school curricula.

As part of his Agenda 47, the president-elect plans to establish a non-political academy offering free online access to top-quality educational content, devoid of ‘wokeness’ and ‘jihadism’, aiming to cover the full spectrum of human knowledge and skills.
