Acclaimed actor Tyler Christopher has tragically passed away at the age of 50, following a cardiac arrest in his San Diego residence. Renowned for his roles in beloved TV series such as General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, his General Hospital co-star Maurice Benard was the first to confirm this heartbreaking news on social media. The untimely loss of this beloved actor has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, leaving his legions of fans and admirers in mourning.
On Wednesday, Maurice Benard took to his Instagram account and shared pictures of Tyler and wrote, "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment. Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting."

He added, "Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him. Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father."

For the unversed, Christopher gained fame for his portrayals of Nikolas Cassadine (1996–1999, 2003–2011, 2013–2016) and Connor Bishop (2004–2005) on ABC's General Hospital. In August 2017, it was revealed that he would be joining NBC's Days of Our Lives as Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain's son, starting on December 29, 2017. He exited the series on March 20, 2019, and the role was taken over by Brandon Barash.
