Harry Potter TV Series Cast: HBO has officially announced the casting of the three main roles for its eagerly awaited Harry Potter TV series. Following a rigorous worldwide open casting call that attracted more than 30,000 aspiring actors, the channel announced that Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley. The new Harry, Hermione, and Ron are part of a cast comprising of John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. The supporting cast adds to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the series.
Welcoming the new actors on board, the makers of the series shared a post on Instagram with the caption, “Dear Mr. Potter, Miss Granger and Mr. Weasley: We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizaedry. Please welcome Dominic McLaughlin as Harry potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermoine Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley to the HBO Original Series Harry Potter.” On the other hand, Harry Potter series’ trio, mostly unknown to mass audiences, possesses promising credentials. McLaughlin recently appeared in the Sky sitcom Grow alongside Nick Frost. Stanton starred in the lead role in Matilda: The Musical on London’s West End. However, the series marks Stout’s first major screen role.

HBO content chief Casey Bloys addressed the matter, stating that Rowling’s opinions are her own and do not reflect the content of the show. The controversy surrounding Rowling's opinions has sparked debate among fans and critics, but the series is expected to move forward with production.
