Marvel is preparing for significant changes following the 2027 Avengers Secret Wars. The X-Men will be recast with new actors, according to Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios. Even well-known characters like Captain America and Iron Man might eventually get new faces. Marvel is referring to this as a 'reset' rather than a reboot in order to commence fresh speculations while honoring the previous ones.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will undergo a new beginning in 2027 when Avengers Secret Wars is released. In a lengthy discussion with the media on Friday, Kevin Feige said that X-men would be recast with new actors, and that even original stars like Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain American) might be recast after Avengers Secret Wars.

All About Marvels X-Men RESET

Marvel will begin casting new actors to portray both well-known and yet undiscovered characters following Secret Wars. This strategy is reminiscent of the events that transpired in the Marvel comics following the 2015 Secret Wars plot, as various timelines met and altered the MCU.

Kevin Feige said (as reported by Variety), "We’re utilizing that (story) not just to round out the stories we’ve been telling post-Endgame, just as importantly, and you can look at the at the Secret Wars comics for where that takes you - it very, very much sets us up for the future. Endgame, literally, was about endings. Secret Wars is about is about beginnings."

Kevin Feige also hinted that other Marvel characters, such as the beloved Iron Man and Captain America, will be recast in the future. He noted that other franchises, such as James Bond and Superman, have done the same thing successfully. The Marvels head also stated that there may be more entertaining storylines with Ryan Reynols and Hugh Jackman's characters Deadpool and Wolverine in the future, but he did not confirm anything specific.

Avengers Doomsday, which is scheduled for release in 2026, will give fans one final opportunity to see some of the original X-Men stars before that. Actors from the earlier X-Men movies, like Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, will make a brief comeback. Additionally, Kelsey Grammer (Beast) made an appearance in The Marvels' post-credits scene in 2023, while Stewart had previously starred in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022.
