MTV Video Music Awards 2025: Lady Gaga Leads With 12 Nominations, Beats Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar | List

MTV Video Music Awards 2025: The nominations for the popular music awards have been officially announced. Popular American singer Lady Gaga has 12 nominations this time, which is the highest of 2025. As per USA Today, her nominations are in major categories including Best Album, Artist of the Year and Video of the Year. Gaga’s number of nominations has surpassed Taylor Swift’s two-year record of being top of the chart. Swift is nominated for Artist of the Year, alongside Beyoncé. The two singers hold 30 trophies of MTV Video Music Awards, if either of them wins again this year then it will be 31 wins.

After Lady Gaga, it's Bruna Mars, who has 11 nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar with 10. Blackpink ROSE and Sabrina Carpenter have received 8 nominations. Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have seven nods each. Other nominees include Billie Eilish (6), Charli XCX (5). Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae have four nominations each. It also features 33 first nominees. It also includes Alex Warren, Gigi Perez, KATSEYE, and country music star Blake Shelton. Mac Miller has been nominated for VMA for the first time.

MTV Video Music Awards 2025 has introduced two new categories-Best Country Artist and Best Pop Artist, to expand the scope of recognition at the event. The voting lines opened on Tuesday across 19 gender neutral categories. It will continue until 6 pm ET on September 5. The award ceremony will broadcast live on CBS at 8 PM ET on September 7. Viewers can watch on MTV and can also stream online Paramount+.
