The final chapter of Stranger Things has left fans excited, eagerly waiting to see what's in store. Echoing the same sentiments, actor Dacre Montgomery, who played the role of Billy Hargrove in previous seasons, revealed what he's most looking forward to. He plans to experience the Netflix hit’s final season as a fan this time. Montgomery called the Duffer Brothers 'great mentors' and said he's eager to see what they'll do next.

Dacre Montgomery Shares Thoughts On Stranger Things 5

In an interview with People, the actor shared that he feels like he has been in his "own little bubble" after being out of touch with the show for a while. He said, “I'm kind of in my own little bubble over in Australia where I live, so [I’ll] occasionally text with a few of the cast members. But honestly, it feels like it's been so long now that I've been kind of out of the swing of things, and then COVID and all kinds of stuff.”

Sharing his excitement about the final chapter, he said, "But I'm excited to watch the last season. I really am."

Montgomery revealed he is looking forward to what’s next for Stranger Things creators and directors, the Duffer Brothers, whom he described as “really great mentors.”

“With Stranger Things coming to an end, I'm actually really excited to see — because I know they have so many other amazing ideas and they've been in [the] Stranger Things world for a decade — I'm really excited to see what they do outside of that," he further added by saying, "That to me is the most exciting part now that it's coming to an end,” he continues. “They're going to have bandwidth to be able to do a new show, and that's really exciting, I think.”

Talking about his co-star Sadie Sink, who plays his half-sister, Max Mayfield, in the show, Montgomery expressed excitement for her career. He added, “I'm really excited to just see Sadie's career because she's such a talented actress and she's so hardworking and she's got a lot of other amazing characters and roles outside of Stranger Things. So I'm really excited to see where she goes just in general in her career. I think she's going to have an amazing career."

Reflecting on his journey in Stranger Things and bringing his character Billy to life on screen, he stated, "I think it's amazing to play a character that so many people connected with, felt like they knew someone that was similar, loved the show and loved that character, or even hated that character."

“It was all just good fan energy, I guess. And that was really exciting for me to be a part of— something so big and culturally right in the 21st century — to be a part of something that people really, really enjoyed," he said as quoted by People.

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date

The Netflix show will be released in three parts, all around the holiday weekends. The first part consisting of four episodes, will premiere on November 26. The second part will be released on Christmas with three episodes, and the finale will premiere on New Year's Eve. Created by The Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things is backed by Upside Down Pictures & 21 Laps Entertainment, along with The Duffer Brothers serving as executive producers.
