Lesser-Known Facts About Iron Man

Iron Man first appeared in March 1963 in the comic titled Tales Of Suspense. After five years, in May 1968 that he got his own title in the first issue of the Iron Man comic book.

The creator Stan Lee initially made Iron Man to look into Cold War themes. He granted him the role of American technology in the battle against communism.

In the early years of the MCU, the team was unsure whether Iron Man as a standalone hero had the potential to turn a millionaire into a superhero.

There are over 50 versions of the Iron Man suit,  which come in different colours for specific situations.

Area 51, known as a US government-owned centre where aliens and UFOs are studied, was bought by Tony Stark in the Marvel universe.

The main four villains of Iron Man are Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo, Iron Monger and Justin Hammer. Others include Doctor Doom, Firepower, Whirlwind and Titanium Man.

Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, is the fourth richest character in the fictional universe. The first position goes to Disney's Scrooge Duck.

Although fans can’t relate to anyone playing Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, as Robert Downey Jr., initially the role was offered to Tom Cruise, who refused as he wasn't pleased with the script. In the late 90s, Nicolas Cage had also expressed interest in playing the role of Iron Man.
