Thousands of Alaskans are set to receive a 1,702 Dollars payment under the state’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program on Wednesday, July 17. According to the program’s official website, this payment includes a 1,440Dollars base dividend and an additional energy relief bonus—a boost attributed to higher oil prices.
What Is Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend Program?
Established in 1982, the PFD program distributes a portion of the state’s oil revenue earnings to qualified residents annually. The dividend amount varies each year, based on factors like oil prices, investment returns, and legislative decisions.

Who Is Eligible To Receive The PFD?
To be considered eligible for the 2024 dividend, residents must meet the following criteria:
1. Must have been an Alaska resident for the entire 2024 calendar year
2. Must intend to remain a resident indefinitely when applying for the 2025 PFD
3. Cannot claim residency in another state since December 31, 2023
4. Cannot have been incarcerated or sentenced for a felony or certain misdemeanors during 2024
5. Cannot have been absent from the state for more than 180 days without a valid reason
6. Must have been physically present in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours during 2023 or 2024
When And How Will Eligible Residents Get The Money?
If your payment status showed “Eligible–Not Paid” as of July 9, your payment will be processed on July 17. The money will be sent either via direct deposit or paper check, depending on the preference selected during your application. The next round of PFD payments is scheduled for August 21. Those whose status reflects “Eligible–Not Paid” as of August 13 will be included in this batch.

How Much Will Residents Receive?
According to the official website, the 2024 PFD amount is 1,702Dollars. Of this, 1,440 Dollars represents the core dividend, while 262 Dollars is an energy relief bonus, included due to elevated oil revenues this year.
When Did Applications Close And When Do They Open Again?
Applications for the 2024 dividend closed on March 31, 2024. If you missed it, mark your calendar: applications for the 2025 PFD will open from January 1 to March 31, 2026. The PFD Division advises residents to update their mailing address and personal information to avoid payment delays. This can be done via the myPFD portal or by submitting an Address Change Form to a PFD office.
