A US Congressman has sparked a storm of speculation after claiming that aliens could be living in deep-sea bases along America’s coastline. Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett, a member of the House Oversight Committee that reviews UFO reports, suggested that advanced alien civilisations may have been hiding beneath the oceans for millennia, a claim that quickly went viral on social media. 

In a video posted to X on September 17, Burchett was filmed during a sidewalk interview with UFO researcher and documentary maker “Red Panda Koala.” Walking past the US Capitol, Burchett calmly proposed that alien entities may not be arriving from distant galaxies but could already be living here on Earth.

“What if these are entities that are here on this earth, that have been on this earth for who knows how long, and we think they’re coming from way out. Maybe they did a millennia ago, but they’re here, and they’re in these deep water areas,” Burchett said.

Underwater UFO Sightings By US Navy Personnel

Burchett further stated that US Navy personnel have reported multiple sightings of unidentified craft in “five or six” specific deep-sea locations. These crafts, he claimed, move at speeds far exceeding the capabilities of current US military technology.

“We have naval personnel telling me that we have sightings … of these underwater crafts that they’re chasing,” he added. 

Following Burchett’s claims, Dr Michael Salla, an author and researcher specialising in extraterrestrial phenomena, highlighted a region of the Atlantic Ocean near the Bahamas. The area houses the Atlantic Undersea Testing and Evaluation Center (AUTEC), a top-secret US Navy facility often compared to “Area 51 underwater.”

“Just to the right of it is the Tongue of the Ocean, which is a very deep part of the ocean there in the Bahamas. It drops off immediately around 3,000 feet,” Salla explained on the Redacted podcast on September 19. “That’s ideal for a submarine, but it’s also a place where people have seen many UFOs, many underwater craft coming into and leaving the water.”
