American journalist and TV host Megyn Kelly recently sparked controversy with her strong remarks about Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage, suggesting that the couple may not be a good match. Kelly’s comments came shortly after Michelle Obama shared her views on various aspects of her marriage to the former US president, including addressing rumors about their relationship and dismissing speculation of divorce.
On The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly openly criticised Michelle Obama’s public statements about her marriage. "Every word she says about Barack Obama is negative," Kelly remarked, referencing Michelle's recent comments on her podcast, IMO. According to Kelly, Michelle’s words often reflect poorly on her husband, suggesting that their relationship may not be as perfect as it is often portrayed in the media.
Kelly, who has been married for over 17 years, also pointed out the contrast between her own relationship and the Obamas’. “I’ve been married for 17 and a half years, and not one was bad,” Kelly said, emphasising that she and her husband have had a relatively smooth and happy marriage. Kelly’s statement stood in stark contrast to Michelle Obama’s public reflections on her relationship with Barack, which Michelle has sometimes described as complicated, especially during difficult periods.

Michelle Obama Opens Up About Her Marriage
Michelle Obama has often been candid about the challenges she has faced in her marriage. In 2022, she spoke at a panel about how she and Barack have gone through tough times, stating, “There are times I’m 70, he’s 30. There are times he’s 60, I’m 40.” She went on to explain that despite their differences and difficult years, she would rather take “10 bad years over 30,” suggesting that long-term commitment in marriage is about perspective and endurance.
Michelle also recently dismissed divorce rumors, emphasising that the couple has weathered many ups and downs together. Her comments were part of a broader discussion on relationships and the pressures that come with public life. Despite their disagreements and tough moments, Michelle highlighted the importance of finding balance in marriage.
Kelly Suggests A Poor Match
In response to Michelle’s reflections, Kelly went further, asserting, “I think she and he married the wrong people.” This bold statement seemed to mock Michelle’s portrayal of her marriage and drew attention to the perceived tension between the Obamas’ public personas and their private life. Kelly’s comments have since sparked a debate, with many questioning the appropriateness of such remarks, especially coming from a public figure commenting on a high-profile relationship.
