A US cop shot and killed a black woman in Los Angeles who had dialed 911 to report that she was under attack by her former boyfriend. Responding to the distress call the Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrived at her house in the United States' Lancaster, where reportedly they found the 27-year-old holding a large kitchen knife.
The December 4 incident witnessed Niani Finlayson shot dead after she called reporting that her boyfriend "would not leave her alone". The LA County Sheriff's Department said that they could hear sounds of struggle and screaming over the phone.
The call the cops arrived at her apartment in East Avenue and heard people arguing and yelling. As the cops forced open the door, they saw the woman holding the knife towards her boyfriend. The officials claimed that Finlayson told them she would stab her boyfriend as he had pushed her 9-year-old daughter.
What followed was a fatal confrontation which led to the black woman being killed after a cop shot at her multiple times infront of her daughter. Soon after, she was rushed to a hospitals, where Finlayson was declared brought dead. The homicide investigators have responded to the incident and a probe into the matter is underway.

As per previous records, the LA County Sheriff's deputy, identified as Ty Shelton, three years ago, in similar circumstances killed another person.
"The police lied that my mom was threatening them," Finlayson's nine-year-old daughter Xiasha who was the prime witness to what transpired said during a press conference where she was present with her grandparents.
The family called for the Shelton's prosecution and have also filed a legal claim against the county and sheriff's department alleging wrongful death, assault and civil rights violation.
Xiasha who also has a two-year-old sister narrated that the toddler keeps asking for their mother and she doesn't know how to respond.
