Headed by billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the department aims to streamline government operations and identify cost-saving measures.
This announcement comes shortly after President-elect Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the department. Trump described their role as co-leading the ‘Manhattan Project of our time’, with the goal of ‘dismantling’ the USD 6.5 trillion (Rs 484,50,000 crore) federal government.
The new X account for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) posted a job request on Thursday, expressing gratitude for the interest shown by thousands of Americans. The message emphasised the need for highly dedicated, small-government advocates willing to work 80+ hours per week on cost-cutting measures. Applicants are asked to DM their CVs, with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy personally reviewing the top 1 per cent of submissions.
