The infamous Annabelle doll, which inspired the Conjuring horror franchise, made a chilling stop in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. As part of the “Devils on the Run” paranormal tour, the original Raggedy Ann doll was displayed inside the historic Soldiers Orphanage Homestead, drawing both curiosity seekers and believers in the supernatural.

Dan Rivera, Senior Lead Investigator of the New England Society for Paranormal Research, welcomed visitors and provided background on the doll’s eerie legacy. Speaking before a hushed crowd, Rivera detailed Annabelle’s controversial history, a tale of possession, violent psychic attacks, and even a fatal motorcycle accident.

According to a sign beneath the doll, the original owner believed it was possessed by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle. However, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose lives inspired The Conjuring films, later declared that the entity was not human, but demonic. After disturbing incidents, including scratches appearing on a victim’s body and multiple car accidents, the doll was handed over to the Warrens and placed in their Occult Museum in Connecticut, where it remained behind glass for decades.

Visitors React To Face-to-Face Encounter

Despite its containment, the legend of Annabelle continues to grow. During Saturday’s event, many visitors expressed awe and nervous fascination as they filed past the display, some filming their experience or whispering prayers. GAL was granted rare access for a close-up video of the doll, which shows its aged fabric, faded smile, and the protective casing designed to prevent further paranormal incidents.

The Gettysburg visit is part of a wider tour that will culminate at a major expo on October 4, 2025, in Rock Island, Illinois. Organisers said Annabelle will be the headline attraction at the event, open from 9 am to 6 pm at 500 20th St. The doll, they emphasised, is considered “one of the most dangerous artefacts” ever recovered by the Warrens, who were renowned for investigating hauntings and collecting cursed objects.

Annabelle’s Ongoing Mystique

Annabelle’s recent travels have sparked new attention. Earlier this summer, rumours circulated that the doll had mysteriously “escaped” during a stop in New Orleans. Although these claims were later debunked, the story added to the lore surrounding the infamous doll and to the apprehension of those who dare to view her up close.
