US President Joe Biden mixed up Egypt and Mexico moments after saying that his "memory is fine" in response to a prosecutor's report that the leader is an "elderly man with a poor memory". A special counsel with the US Justice Department released his report on Thursday (local time) saying that Biden will not face charges for knowingly taking classified documents when he left the vice presidency in 2017.

Describing the leader as a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory", Special Counsel Robert Hur said that he decided against charging Biden with any crime after conducting a 15-month-long investigation because the President cooperated and would be difficult to convict. "Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," wrote Hur.

Biden, in an angry rebuttal, said, "My memory is fine...Take a look at what I've done since I became president." However, speaking on the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip moments later, Biden referred to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the "president of Mexico". "I think as you know initially, the president of Mexico, El-Sisi, did not want to open up the gate to humanitarian material to get in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate," the US President stated.

Notably, earlier this week, Biden referred to a conversation he had with Angela Merkel in 2021 as having taken place with the late German Chancellor Helmut Kohl. In another gaffe this past week, Biden reportedly appeared to confuse current French President Emmanuel Macron with France's former leader, Francois Mitterrand, who passed away nearly 30 years ago. ''It was in the south of England. And I sat down and I said, 'America is back,' and Mitterrand from Germany, I mean from France, looked at me and said – said, 'you know what — why — how long you back for?'' Biden was quoted as saying by the New York Post.
