Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was allegedly stabbed 14 times in a violent fight inside a California prison on Monday. The attack took place inside the California Correctional home in Tehachapi and has since generated alarm over security in high-security prisons. As per a post made on Lanez's official Instagram page, the 32-year-old rapper was severely injured, with seven stab wounds in his back, four in his torso, two on the back of his head, and one on the left side of his cheek. The statement also went on to reveal that both of Lanez's lungs had collapsed, and he was initially placed on a breathing apparatus. But now he is said to be in stable condition.
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) spokesperson stated, “Staff immediately responded, activated 911, and began medical aid. Peterson was subsequently transported to an outside medical facility in Bakersfield for further treatment

Why Is The Rapper Behind Bars
In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of an assault case. He was charged with a semiautomatic firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, and possession of an unregistered weapon. The charges were related to a July 2020 shooting when he fired at rapper Megan Thee Stallion after a fight following a party in Hollywood Hills. He was sentenced to 10 years in August 2023 and started serving his sentence the next month. Lanez might be paroled in 2029. His lawyers still fight the conviction through appeals, having recently submitted one in late 2024 that is currently pending before a California appeals court.
