The nation's capital will burst into color, pride, and jubilation this weekend when DC welcomes the 2025 Pride Parade, a key highlight of World Pride celebrations. Organized by the Capital Pride Alliance, this year’s parade is expected to draw thousands of attendees from across the US and beyond. This year, WorldPride is being hosted in Washington, D.C. for the first time, further amplifying the scale, visibility, and global reach of the event.
DC Pride Parade 2025 Date & Time
The DC Pride Parade will start at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, at 14th and T Streets NW. Floats and marchers will make their way through the major D.C. neighborhoods, such as Thomas Circle, before turning down Pennsylvania Avenue NW and ending near the Navy Memorial. The route highlights some of D.C.'s most famous streets and neighborhoods, with lively participation by LGBTQ+ groups, allies, corporate partners, and local leaders.

Locals are asked to avoid these routes as large crowds and road closures are expected. Severe traffic disturbances and road closures are scheduled throughout Washington, D.C. on June 6 and 7 as preparation for the parade and other related activities. The Metropolitan Police Department released an advisory on May 28 saying several roads will be closed in and around the parade route and parking restrictions will be strictly implemented. A detailed travel regulatory advice has been published by the police department. In a move that generated buzz, Dupont Circle Park, a historic site of LGBTQ+ activism would be closed on Thursday, June 5 from 6 p.m. to Sunday, June 8 at 6 p.m. The National Park Service asserted that the closure was sought by the US Park Police for "public health and safety," and the safeguarding of cultural resources amidst the heavy-footfall event days.
WorldPride 2025: A Celebration Of Global LGBTQ+ Unity
WorldPride 2025 formally kicked off on May 17 and encompasses a rich calendar of cultural, political, and entertainment events. The festivities include:

• Youth Pride
• Live concerts, fashion shows, speaker panels, and community meetups

The festivities will culminate on Sunday, June 8, with a Rally and Equality March from the Lincoln Memorial to the US Capitol, making a resounding declaration for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility. At a moment when LGBTQ+ rights continue to face legislative battles in America, this year's Pride becomes more politically charged. Organisers indicate that the parade not only celebrates LGBTQ+ activism over decades but also acts as a deafening cry for equality, inclusion, and justice.
