Max Verstappen and Lando Norris laughed off their pit-lane close call together at the Japanese Grand Prix with the Red Bull driver giving a hilarious 'expensive lawnmower' comment to McLaren driver.

The Red Bull driver dominated the race, leading from pole position to the finish line and crossing it nearly 1.5 seconds ahead of Briton Norris.

Meanwhile, Norris successfully defended his second-place position against his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri of Australia, who secured third place.

A dramatic moment unfolded when Verstappen and Norris emerged from their pit stops simultaneously, leading to a clash between the two title contenders. Norris attempted to overtake Verstappen, but the latter maintained his line, forcing Norris onto the grass at the end of the pit lane.

Despite the incident, the stewards chose not to penalize either driver. Verstappen later joked that Norris was keen to "make sure the grass was nice and cut," poking fun at the close call.

While reviewing the video, Verstappen laughed off the incident. "That's quite an expensive lawnmower," the Dutchman says jokingly to Norris, who appreciates the joke.

"We had a floor specially made for it!" Norris joked.

In the green room, the team celebrated with highlights of the race playing on the screens, but Norris seemed underwhelmed by the footage.

"Nothing happened! I don’t think there was one overtake," Norris stated.
