A 29-year-old Indian-origin man was shot dead in front of his wife over a suspected road rage incident in Indiana. The accused shooter, after being detained for some time, was released after it appeared they might have acted in self-defence. The victim was reportedly carrying a handgun when he confronted the driver of a pickup truck.

According to police and media reports, cited by News 18, the incident occurred when Gavin Dasaur was heading back to his house with his Mexican wife. Amanda Hibschman, an officer in Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD) said they responded to the incident after 8 pm on July 16 at an intersection on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

Officials said they found a man lying in the middle of a road with a gunshot wound. “I held him as he bled out and I was waiting for the ambulance,” the victim’s widow, Viviana ZaMora, told The Indianapolis Star.

A mobile phone video recorded by another driver at the scene captures Dasaur exiting his car at the intersection. He appears irate, yelling at the driver of a pickup truck.

He can be seen holding a gun in his hand. As he raises his arm to the truck’s window, the occupant shoots three rounds towards him. Dasaur immediately drops to the ground.

Dasaur, hailing from UP’s Agra, got married to Viviana ZaMora on June 29. The locals reported to the police that the incident occurred due to a road rage incident between the Chevy driver and Dasaur.
