A 31-year-old former teacher from Martinsville, Indiana, Brittany Fortinberry, faces serious charges stemming from allegations of sexual misconduct with multiple teenage boys, providing them with drugs, and sharing explicit images. The accusations emerged after her dismissal from Eminence High School in late August 2024, with formal charges following months later. Court records indicate that Fortinberry allegedly sent nude photos of herself, along with images of sex toys and a stripper pole in her home, to several students via Snapchat.
One 17-year-old student reported to authorities that a friend had mentioned Fortinberry's alleged comments about wanting to engage in sexual acts with them and fantasising about it. Further investigation revealed claims of repeated sexual encounters with students, with one 15-year-old boy alleging that Fortinberry abused at least five-- and possibly up to 10-- teenage boys. He described the acts as "child molestation," likening them to a 30-year-old man preying on a 15-year-old girl, and stated he came forward to prevent further harm to others.
Shocking details
According to his account, Fortinberry drove him 70 miles to French Lick for sexual encounters, supplied him with drugs, and threatened self-harm if he disclosed their interactions. The investigation gained traction in December 2024, four months after her termination, which was prompted by reports from two students about receiving inappropriate images from her. Police searches of her home corroborated the descriptions of items like sex toys and exercise equipment seen in the photos she allegedly sent.
When initially confronted, Fortinberry reportedly deflected blame, attributing her behaviour to losing 150 pounds and expressing remorse-- not for her actions, but for her weight loss. She claimed she "regrets the day she lost weight," suggesting she wouldn’t have faced these issues if she had remained heavier.
Shocking regret
The Eminence Community School Corporation, located 35 miles south of Indianapolis, suspended Fortinberry immediately upon receiving the initial complaints. A spokesperson from the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville confirmed her resignation on August 23, 2024. During police interviews, court documents note that Fortinberry focused on her regret over her physical transformation rather than the harm caused to her victims.
She now faces charges including sexual misconduct with a minor, dissemination of harmful material to minors, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Authorities continue to investigate as more potential victims may yet come forward.
