Trump Gold Card visa: In a sweeping overhaul of the US immigration system, President Donald Trump on Friday announced the launch of the Trump Gold Card visa program, a new pathway aimed at attracting high-net-worth individuals, global entrepreneurs, and extraordinary talent.
The program, which the administration described as a “premium immigration option,” will fast-track US residency for qualified applicants who make a substantial financial commitment. Under the plan, individuals must contribute USD 1 million to the US Treasury as part of their application. Corporations can opt for the Trump Corporate Gold Card, requiring a USD 2 million contribution, enabling them to sponsor employees for residency. A Trump Platinum Card is also in the pipeline, offering up to 270 days of residence in the US per year without taxation on foreign income.
Unveiling the scheme, Trump said the initiative would raise billions for the US economy while attracting individuals capable of creating jobs and wealth. “We think it’s going to be very successful. It’s going to raise billions of dollars, which will reduce taxes, pay off debt, and do other good things,” Trump remarked while signing the executive order.
US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick stressed that the focus would be on “extraordinary people at the very top”, not average workers. Lutnick criticised the existing employment-based green card system, noting that it admitted over 2.8 lakh people annually, many of whom earned around USD 66,000 a year and were more likely to depend on welfare programs. “We are going to stop doing that. Instead, we will bring in innovators, investors, and influencers who will create businesses and jobs for Americans,” Lutnick said.

This Gold Card initiative could raise over USD 100 billion for the US Treasury. Trump aides believe it will simultaneously curb illegal immigration, restrict overuse of the H-1B visa, and create a premium gateway for global talent willing to invest directly in America’s future.
