Agra Metro Expansion: Agra’s Metro project is moving ahead quickly. According to officials, metro trains will start running up to RBS and Khandari by August 2025. However, commuters heading towards ISBT and Sikandra will need to wait a little longer, as work on that stretch is still ongoing.
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has ramped up construction efforts for the stations and tracks. From August, passengers will be able to travel from Mankameshwar to RBS and Khandari by metro. ISBT station will be used for halting and parking trains in the future. In the next phase, the metro will extend to Sikandra, which is expected to be ready by March 2026 as per a report by Amar Ujala.
Agra Metro Expansion: 13 Stations Planned in the First Corridor
Project Director Arvind Rai shared that the first corridor of the Agra Metro will have 13 stations in total. At present, trains are operating on the initial 6 stations between Taj East Gate and Mankameshwar. The remaining stretch up to RBS will be opened in August as per the reports.
Metro stations at RBS, Raja Ki Mandi, and Agra College have already been built, with finishing touches currently underway. Tunnel construction between SN Medical College and Mankameshwar is in its final stage and should be completed by June. Trial runs will begin in July, followed by full operations up to RBS in August.
Agra Metro Expansion: Construction at ISBT and Sikandra Under Progress
ISBT station will also serve as a metro depot for train parking and maintenance. Some construction, including the erection of two remaining pillars and U-girder installation near the Khandari ramp, is still ongoing. Work at ISBT is likely to wrap up by July.
Meanwhile, construction of the Guru Ka Taal and Sikandra stations is also in progress. Once the entire first corridor is complete, expected by March 2026, the Agra Metro will run seamlessly from Taj East Gate to Sikandra.
