Agra Metro Update: The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) on Saturday stated that the Agra metro is likely to begin its operation till RBS College station from September. While providing details, the authority stated that the tracks are being laid at metro stations to finish the construction work ahead of the deadline. The authority further stated that signaling work has also commenced, adding that the construction work on the underground stations is likely to be completed in the next three months. The UPMRC further stated that the operation of the metro till RBS College station will provide convenience to the residents by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.

UPMRC Deputy General Manager Panchanan Mishra stated that the tunnel digging work between the Mankameshwar station has been completed. Mishra further stated that finishing work is being carried out near Agra College, adding that a concrete base will be constructed and tracks will be laid on it. He further stated that the authority is also installing tunnel ventilation systems to ensure the presence of pure air in the underground metro station.

Mishra further stated that the control room and sewage system are being carried out by different teams, adding that lifts and escalators will be installed after this. He assured that all these works will be completed in two and a half months in RBS, Raja Ki Mandi, and Agra College. However, Mishra stated that the work between SN and Mankameshwar station will take 3 months due to the delay in NOC for the construction of the tunnel under the railway track near Bijlighar.

The UPMRC deputy general manager stated that the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner will be called for inspection once the construction work is finished. He emphasised that the metro will be ready for inauguration in September after receiving NOC from various departments.
